POBO infrastructure for PSPs

Named payouts for regulated PSPs

Enable your clients to send international payments through your infrastructure while preserving their identity throughout the payment chain.

The beneficiary sees your client as the sender of funds.
You remain the regulated institution processing the transaction.

Underlying client and PSP/MSB data is sent through Neo payment infrastructure and seen by the beneficiary

Why POBO?

Reduce friction in client payment flows

Traditional payment rails often display the PSP as the sender of funds. This creates reconciliation issues, compliance queries and post-payment investigations.

  • Better beneficiary experience

Beneficiaries receive payments from the company they recognise and expect.

  • Easier reconciliation

Reduce allocation issues and costly post-payment investigations.

  • Greater transparency

Richer payment data shows the parties involved in the transaction.

  • Higher STP rates

Improve data quality before execution and reduce operational intervention.

How it works

Clear roles in the payment message

Neo POBO preserves the identity of the underlying sender while keeping the PSP visible as the issuing institution.

PSP / MSB

Acts as the regulated institution processing the payment. Appears as the Debtor Agent.

Underlying client

Appears as the sender of funds. Displayed as the Debtor in the message.

Beneficiary

Receives a payment showing the name of the underlying client.

Key concepts

POBO

Payments On Behalf Of (POBO) is a payment model whereby a financial institution, treasury centre, payment service provider, or designated payment entity initiates and settles payments on behalf of one or more underlying entities, while maintaining transparency regarding the ultimate originator of the funds within the payment message and supporting records.

STP

Straight-Through Processing (STP) is the automated processing of a payment instruction through all stages of the payment lifecycle – from initiation to settlement – without manual intervention, exception handling, or re-keying of data by the sending institution, intermediary banks, or beneficiary bank.
